Surprised there hasn't been more discussion of this - or is it on another board?
They announced today that the airport will be closed to Dec. 15th. What are people doing to get into, out of, or around there? Mostly curious - thought I'd read a couple of posters headed that way or routed through there.

Some of the governments, UK, AU, NZ, FR, GR, US, etc. are arranging chartered flights for their citizens out of Phuket. It's not perfect and there are some complaints from few but that's the best they can do at this time.
Too bad. I have been to Thailand numerous times and the locals are the most friendly and helpful people I know, but the ruling party must have really pis.ed them off this time.
