Problems with the FlyerTalk board?

Has anyone else been having problems connecting to the FlyerTalk Forums? I've been trying since Thursday and cannot connect.

By any chance do you have Vista? I had a problem all day but my husband's XP got on fine. I finally did something in Vista security and now it works fine.

mystic I am having the same problem and am using Vista. Do you remember what you did?

Kaneohe Nov 13th, 2009 07:33 PM

Nope, I'm still on XP; I have not made any changes to my security settings (or any other settings) in months, but I still cannot access the web site. Help!

Problem with their website. Same results with various browser. Not sure if whether the big article on WSJ on Thursday has anything to do with it or it.

What I did is probably wrong and I am changing it back...until I read more about it. I went to the Control Panel/Security and I changed the User control option.

Flyertalk's owner/host, Internet Brands, has been down (mostly) for the past day. Talk is they got hacked (speculation based on some links to x-rated sites suddenly turning up on FT's home page, before it went tango.)

mjz_kc Nov 14th, 2009 04:56 AM

Same issue here. Working just fine this morning though. That site is kind of like my version of crack when I'm planning travel...I was getting the shakes without it.

Seamus Nov 14th, 2009 07:11 AM

Whatever the problem , it is not totally resolved. Got FT to load but s-l-o-w-l-y

Kaneohe Nov 14th, 2009 08:39 AM

Thanks, good to know I'm not alone.

mjz_kc...I feel your pain!

There is now a FT message posted about the outage - was due to a cyber attack, now fixed. Still takes a while for the initial page to load but once done seems to be working OK

Well if someoen finds out WHEN they plan to fix the website can they post it.

It is NOT working right and it's just not worth the effort to wait half an hour for the thing to load!

ms_go Nov 15th, 2009 03:38 PM

It's been working more or less normally for me since yesterday morning. It took a little time to get on initially, after the outage, but no problems since.

rkkwan Nov 15th, 2009 04:00 PM

Yup. No problem since yesterday.

pavot Nov 15th, 2009 04:20 PM

Hey, I liked the idea of that downforeveryone site, but I think it's bogus. I just tried it, and every site I asked about was apparently "down" -- but when I went to the sites, they were fine....

AAFrequentFlyer Nov 16th, 2009 07:17 AM

Click on the Is it just me? link and then read the following page. Most of the time it will say "It's just you" because the site is UP.

Gardyloo Nov 16th, 2009 08:44 AM

FT is in and out again today. Guess IB is still on somebody's hate list.

AAFrequentFlyer Nov 16th, 2009 08:59 AM

I don't have any problems?

Gardyloo Nov 16th, 2009 09:32 AM

It was timing out for me (and for http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com too) up till around half an hour ago. Fingers crossed.
