problems air canada online

Has anyone else had problems with Air Canada's website? I have spent all day trying to get an aeroplan membership and it keeps telling me the server is down try later? Have I picked a bad day, or is it always like this? They advertise 10% discount if you book online is that just to get you interested?
Curious Jane

i don't "navigate" well and got frustrated real quick. called them direct and got a great deal and cheerful service. better than travel aency offers.

I found their site much less intuitive to use than that of other airlines - Southwest, Continental, Delta, ATA, American, etc...

I signed up for the Aeroplan 5 days ago and it's still not letting me make a reservation. I can look up my profile though. Looks like I'll have to call. Hope I don't have to wait on hold.

Air Can Canada CAN'T.
Don't even get me started. We have one, count it, one, national airline left and their website hosting and applications are just horrible. Just last week I heard a funny (or not so funny story) about a gentleman who has been with Air Canada for something like 35 years. He was about to retire when he was "talked into" heading up Air Canada's e-business efforts (specifically the Aeroplan member's areas). He took the job and now can only shake his head and wonder what he's gotten himself into. Good luck. Call the telephone number, wait on hold for 15-30 minutes and then ask for a supervisor, another 15-30 minutes, and then tell them to give you the on-line discount you can't otherwise obtain. UGH!

I eventually bought tickets from Continental instead. How do you expect to bring in customers if you have to wait for days to make a reservation?

I have found that the so-called lowest fare offered online can ALWAYS be substantially bettered by my travel agent
