Problem with AA.com

Okay here's one that has floored me...I am planning a trip that includes a tour. The tour runs from Glasgo to Shannon. I want to schedule additional time in London before the tour. Okay, so I go to AA.com and put in the itinerary: JFK-stopover in London-G;lasgow then finally Shannon to JFK......now here's what happened...it came up with a flight from JFK-LHR, no problem, LHR-GLA, no problem but SNN-JFK well here and you have to shake your head at the nonsense here...it gives me a flight from Shannon to LHR but then it gives a whole list of nonsensical connections from LHR back to JFK including one telling me to wait for 8 hours at LHR, fly to Brussels, wait overnight and then fly fromn Brussels to JFK...you have to see this to believe it when there are 3 or 4 flights on AA itself that I can easily connect to from the flight from Shannon to LHR. Yet when I put the same itinerary into Orbitz, lo and behold, it comes up perfectly with a connection to an AA flight from LHR to JFK, nonstop. I just don't get it. Doesn't AA want me to book it on AA.comn and save the commission charges from Orbitz. If anybody doesn't believe me, try getting the following itinerary on AA.com...

09 August JFK-LHR
August 15 LHR-GLA
August 27 SNN-JFK.......

Then put the same itinerary into orbitz.

What kind of fool does AA.com think I am?

Did you select "Search by fare" If so it' think's you are the "lowest possible price" fool.

Try looking for a box that says "book by schedule"

(And AA doesn't pay commissions to TAs anymore so they don't really care if you book via Orbitz. They don't pay orbitz, I think they own part of it!)

Carol...when I tried book by schedue it said sorry AA doesn't fly this itinerary!

Just making the point one would think the airline would give you the best deal.....

Did you check "all airlines" or the default "AA only"?

Aug 27 on AA.com I see several AER Lingus options through LHR, connecting AA LHR to JFK. 3hr, 5hr or 7hr layover. Nothing nonsensical.

Thanks...that worked....although I still don't understand why when I tried to book by price and hit AA and its partners I got three of the same four flights....thanks though for your help much appreciated.
