Poster tubes as carry-on

Do you have any experience bringing poster tube as carry-on on Emirates or any other airlines?! Thanks!

I have carried poster tubes up to 24-inches on UA, AA, AC and LH and never had problems. There were a couple times I couldn't find a tube for a print I bought and made my own from a cardboard box and another time I found a roll of giftwrap on sale that I put the poster inside.

I got a pretty good deal on a 29x42 print on my last trip to London and I only had a backpack carry-on with me, but luckily I managed to squeeze the poster tube inside of it and everything turned out alright. I'm not sure about bringing it on board as an additional piece of luggage...

We usually take two poster tubes. One is short enough to pack in a checked bag. The other is bigger and I carry it as my personal item. The larger one often ends up outboard in the overhead bin, and can be hard to reach.
