SAN/CDG/BOS/SAN have ff mileage on AA and AF

1.wanted to leave on a Sunday 9/16. Is this a poor day? Looks like only good timely connection on AA (our ff program) is through Dallas. Seems like that will be a long trip to CDG
from Dallas. Or am I wrong?..


2.We also have FF on Air France so we could go rt SAN to BOS and then on Delta/AF to CDG.

I am not sure if I am handling this right. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. I usually use itasoftware but it seems to be "broken"..keep getting proxy errors.

You want to buy a ticket or claim mileage?

And the difference in flight time for your connection via DFW or other airports are minimal.

Just want to buy a ticket. Trying to get a good deal...but itasoftware not responding to my query.

So does it make sense to go rt san to bos?...and then do AF to Paris and back to Boston..?..

Just curious if going on Sunday is a bad idea..

What days are you trying to CDG-BOS and BOS-SAN?

It just depends on the fare whether you should buy it as one ticket or two.

I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with leaving on a Sunday.

Air France has a new Seattle-Paris flight. Have you checked on pricing that one? Since it's a new route (only about a month old), you might be able to get a good fare?? Then you can buy a cheap ticket from SAN-SEA on AA? UA? Don't know if Southwest flies that route? Plus, you might cut down on the number of flights you have to take to get to Paris, and save some money. If you are trying to piece it together using AA and AF, for the AA portion, try to pick pick AA arrival gateways that would decrease the likelihood that you'd have to take more than one flight (like ORD). AF doesn't fly nonstop from DFW, for example).

Another thing to consider- are you flexible on your dates? (you didn't say when you were coming back?) I am asking because almost all airlines change a weekend supplement for flights departing Fri-Sun on international flights. The wknd supplement runs anywhere from $25-$50 each way. If you aren't flexible, that's fine, just something to "know" for your future travels.

SAN-DFW-CDG departing SAN at 10:40 AM is 20 min. longer total travel time (including connections) than SAN-BOS-CDG on the same day; however to go via BOS you have to leave almost 2 hours earlier from SAN. Going via Dallas is almost 5 hours faster than going via JFK, owing to ground time in New York.

Coming back, it depends on your travel dates; for some plug dates in early October, it looks like the CDG-BOS AA nonstop is running rather full, so that's why the best prices aren't coming up. It would still be worth it to go to Boston nonstop in my opinion, rather than having to switch to American Eagle at JFK or schlepping to La Guardia to connect.

It looks like Air France's launch teaser fares from Seattle don't last through September, so that doesn't look especially attractive. Nor does it look like going on 2 tickets (SAN-BOS-SAN and BOS-CDG-BOS) save you any money at all; to the contrary (again, not knowing your specific dates) it looks like $200 more in the best case.

ITA is very flukey these days for some reason.

Return CDG to BOS October 16 or 17 (family here)
BOS to SAN October 22 or 23.

We are in our 70s..need easiest way. I thank you for the help. I have hotel booked for Monday Sept. 17 but could change it I guess to another date so we could leave earlier...it is possible to do that..

aa.com can get you the dates you want for $936. Quite reasonable.
