Pegasus Airlines

Has anyone flown Pegasus Airlines? What was your experience?
Good, Bad, Normal, Dependable, etc?
I am considering flying from either Paris, Barcelona or Marseille to Istanbul
for a long weekend.
I want to go back to Provence and DH wants to see Istanbul.
Perhaps we can do both.
This airline seems to have a good and understandable
web site.
Would you purchase directly from their web site?
They land at the S. Gokcen airport. Anyone been there?
It's relatively new, so I hear.

Anyone?

You do understand that the flight itself is about 3.5 hours?

I'd worry more about the time, if you think the website is ok and you've checked other sources for review, like flyertalk.

Yes, I can read that it's 3.5 hours. Why is that important? It's non-stop. I'm already coming from the Southwest U.S. so what's another few hours? I will check flyertalk.

Pretty impatient for replies....maybe NO ONE where would fly them because

they are not highly rated

they don't even go to the main IST airport

Yes, I see. Thank you new for that link. How about Turkish Airlines....better?

Southam Apr 10th, 2013 06:51 AM

Turkish Airlines is bidding to become a major international carrier. Pegasus, I assume, is after short-haul no-frills trade. You will have to compare prices, schedules, connections etc. for yourself to decide which is "better" for your purposes. But remember an old joke about essential airline service: The number of landings should equal the number of take-offs.

I am not a budget traveler but what really turns me off are some of the reviews on that web site newtome suggested about the S. Gokcen airport. I don't think that would be worth any discount flight. That's just me. If I traveled to Turkey regularly then maybe it would be different. Thank you Southam.

I flew Pegasus from Izmir to Athens, albeit three years ago, but no problems. The price and schedule worked.

I flew Pegasus this past fall from Kayseri to Rome(FCO) via S. Gokcen. The flights were fine. I had preordered a meal and it was actually good. I had flown Turkish Air to Nevsehir. Pegasus' fare to Rome was MUCH less than Turkish Air. Only downside of Pegasus is that the check in seemed to take longer. Many locals were flying and did not understand the concept of weight restrictions or size of carry on. I would not hesitate to fly Pegasus again.

I forgot to add that I purchased the tickets from their website prior to my visit to Turkey (I live in the USA). I did not have any problems with the transaction.

Thanks BarbAnn; I decided on a flight from Barcelona on Turkish Airlines to the main airport in Istanbul.
