Passport name and airline ticket don't match

I am flying to the Bahamas on Air Tran and booked my trip through Bookit. I didn't have my passport at time of booking so the representative told me to use my first middle and last name to book as this is what would be on my passport. When I applies for my passport they went by what was on my drivers licence and it's my first name maiden name initial and last name. I tried to get this changed through Air Tran but they say since it was booked through a 3 rd party they cannot change it and Bookit says they can't change it either. Bookit has notified Air tran of the problem and they said that I should have no problems. I'm just concerned since I am flying internationally. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks

Bahamas customs are very lax in my experience

odds are great they will look at nothing so no worries

I have been there perhaps 30 times they have looked at nothing.

Did get chased by them one time at Marsh Harbor tried to check

out no one was at customs so I taxied my plane out to take off

they ran their little customs car into my takeoff to try

to catch me even though it was their fault had to hop

them to take off to fly back to the US.

So things are very laid back down there.

As long as first and last name match you will have no issues.

First and last names match exactly! So maybe everything will be ok. Thanks!

You should ask the airline to make a notation in your booking regarding your name and the discrepancy. This shouldn't be a problem, but in this day I would never be too sure some unexpected problem would not come up. The fact that you put a full middle name on the ticket that does not match the passport makes it more complex than if the middle initial had just been incorrect. If that doesn't match the initial, your passport could be flagged, and you might have problems (you shouldn't but you might).

I agree that the problem (if there is one) is that the initial is different, not that it doesn't match exactly. My passport has my full first middle last name all spelled out. I never use my middle name on plane tickets and it has never onced been questioned in a lifetime of traveling.

When you go through security, you can present whatever government-issued picture ID you like. As long as you have one with your first, middle and last name, you're fine. You don't have to use your passport.
