Passing through LAX, terminal transfer?
I'm flying overseas from YUL (Montreal, Qc) and I'm stopping in LAX terminal 2 before boarding a different airline (AC to SQ) to fly over the Pacific from the Tom Bradley Int'l terminal.
I searched a lot, but can't find for sure how the transfer works between the two. From what I (think I) know, the terminals are different buildings, does it mean I need to go through security again, even if I'll be screened at YUL on departure? And how do I get from 2 to TBI? Thanks in advance, this'll be my first solo, and biggest flight... |
You will pre-clear US border formalities (immigration, customs) at YUL and will have to make your way from Terminal 2 to TBIT outside security. So yes, you'll have to re-clear before the SQ flight. Your luggage should be tagged through so no need to retrieve it at LAX.
There are shuttle buses circling LAX that can take you from T2 to TBIT; however it's probably faster to walk it, around 5 min. tops. http://www.lawa.org/welcome_lax.aspx?id=246 |
Thanks Gardyloo,
do you know what's the average time to clear security? my layover last 4:43, landing at 11:02, leaving at 15:45, makes me think about getting lunch outside with someone I know in LA before my next fight... |
forgot to add: it'll be a Sunday in Mid-July

I'd probably allow 90-120 min. for check in and security at TBIT. Could/should be faster, but that's a busy departure time at LAX, so ? Certainly there ought to be time for a quick In 'n Out, if you get my drift.

Thanks a lot!
