PA to BMI most Cheaply??
Hi, Everybody,
I live in central Pennsylvania and decided to try something new in order to save travel $$, but it seems to be backfiring on me. I've selected a SW flight from Baltimore, which was half the cost of a local flight, but it seems in Park&Fly hotels and gas for my car, I'm paying the same amount, basically, with the added inconvenience of driving 4 hours each way. Amtrak schedules are not working, and the bus doesn't seem to, either. Does anybody have any ideas as to how I can get to Baltimore airport, park my car and get on the early flight the cheapest? Are the airport LT parking lots convenient? Somehow I got the idea that they fill up quickly (I'm going Aug 2nd) I had planned to go there the night before, and rest up before my trip, but at this point, everything is costing so much that I'm about to cancel altogether. Any advice you could give me would be most appreciated. Thanx |
Instead of driving and paying to park your car, have you looked into renting a car and driving it one way, then doing the same on the return? I did this recently when I had to fly out of an airport in another city. It turned out to be less expensive for me than either flying there or driving my own car and parking. Just a thought.

P M's idea is right on target. I live in Baltimore, but when I have to fly out of DCA or IAD, I do a one-way rental from (or to) a downtown location. I can usually get a car for less than $30 after taxes, which is far less than the $60-120 I'd pay for a car service or shuttle, or to drive my own car and park. In addition, depending on the airport and rental agency, the airport drop-off locations are often much closer to the terminal than if you parked your own car in one of the lots.
If that doesn't work for you, have you looked into the Ramada Inn-Hanover? Heard an ad for their park & fly package starting at $99. |
I feel your pain. I'm also in central PA but only about 1.5 hours from BWI. Anyway, we stay at the Holiday Inn Express near the BWI airport, and they have free shuttles and a drive/fly package that includes one week parking. Additional weeks are $30.
Good Luck. http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/...balhv?irs=null |
Thanks, Everybody, for your responses..I'll check for the one-way rental. I do have a park & stay package that I booked via internet (another mistake - they added a $10 surcharge without telling me in advance), but the cost is $112.00 including 14 days at Ramada, and I only plan to be gone 4 days. I'm planning to cancel this reservation and chalk-up the service fee loss as "education fee".
