ORD Airport Hotel - Need Recommendation

We may have an overnight layover at Chicago ORD on the way to Rome in May.

Does anyone have any recommended airport hotels at ORD? Any to steer clear of?

A very nice and exteremly convenient hotel is the O'Hare Hilton. It's connected to the terminals. Just a short walk and you are in the room.

The O'Hare Hyatt usually is very reasonably priced. It runs a shuttle.

The rest? They are all good to Excellent. It depends on how much you want to spend and if you are planning on doing something else besides sleeping.

The Hilton is connected to the train into the city. it's about 45 minute ride to city center and it costs $2 each way.

With all the other hotels you will have to either take the shuttle back to the airport to catch the train or taxi to wherever you want to go. Don't get me wrong. You don't have to go all the way to the city as there are some great restaurants/bars around the airport, but if you have the time, a quick visit to downtown Chicago is a must. IMHO.

BTW, the Hilton and the Hyatt along with couple of others can be gotten through www.priceline.com at a discounted rate. The only problem is that you won't know which one you'll get until Priceline accepts your bid.

The following are ranked as 4* hotels at Chicago O'Hare area for bidding purposes:

O'Hare Hilton
O'Hare Hyatt
Westin O'Hare
Doubletree O'Hare
Sofitel O'Hare

All fine hotels but only the Hilton is connected to the terminals. The rest will require a shuttle.

The accepted rates range from $50 to ~$100, depending on the time of the year and availibility.

Also, check out www.hilton.com as the airport Hilton does have $99 rates on occasion.

Thank you AAFF! You are always so nice to respond immediately and share your expertise.

The O'Hare Hilton looks very nice, but they want almost $300 a night.

I will check on the Hyatt next.

Our plane gets to Chicago at 8 p.m., so probably not much signtseeing that night. We will have the next morning free so maybe a train into the city then.

There is also a Ramada,Sheraton and Budget Inn 5 minutes away via their shuttles. These are known to be more reasonable (under $100).

We like the Courtyard by Marriott, which is also only a few minutes away and under $100 per night.
