Opinions on Air Tran please.

I am considering flying AirTran from BWI to Boston. Having never flown this airline before I'm wondering what it's like. Also, I may upgrade to business class. Is it worth it?

I have flown Airtran and would gladly fly with them again. They're adding more new B-717s which I believe is what they operate on the BWI BOS route. Seating is 5 across in economy; 4 across business. Extra drinks, extra pitch, priority boarding, double miles, and upgrades--if I recall correctly--are only $25 from full fare coach.

Usairways deserves your support more...and you'll go more places with the points you earn in Dividend miles program!

Airtran is your best bet. They have better service than any of the major airlines (sorry Randy) and they as a low cost carrier continue to have better fares than the spasmodic fares of major carriers such as USAirways.

If anyone needs support, it is indeed the Low Cost Carriers.

FYI, Air Tran is the new name of Value Jet, enough said.

FYI, American Airlines is now called... American Airlines, enough said. United Airlines is still called United. Let's see, who else has had fatal crashes in the past 10 years? Enough said.

Laura,
Sorry, but you are wrong. Air Tran was an existing carrier long before Value Jet. The 2 Carriers Merged.
Most Value Jet employees and Executives are long gone.
The Value Jet planes are no longer being flown.
Air Tran now has the newest fleet in the industry. Their president is an ex-Eastern President.

My bad. Thanks for pointing it out.

Randy Apr 10th, 2002 03:13 PM

Joyce-That is not correct on Air Trans's DC9-30's...most ARE ex Valujet, bought used from Delta,Turkish airlines, and others. They are adding 717's,and fyi, they are dropping Toledo, but adding Milwaukee and Wichita.

Barbara Apr 10th, 2002 03:21 PM

Oh, Joyce is saying nice things about AirTran because they still pay commisions. She'd say nice things about the devil if he paid commissions.

Barbara? Get a grip woman! Have you ever flown AirTran? This poster wanted opinions on the airline not your personal biases!
