One-way awards with United Mileage Plus

They are here, finally: one-way award bookings at the united website. Mileage cost is half of the roundtrip. It works for both domestic and international itins and all classes.

Also new are also "miles & money awards but I haven't looked into that.

One-way awards are only on United/United Express operated flights (not Star Alliance or other partners), right? I haven't read the detail on the others, either.

Yes, UA and UX only for both the one-way and (roundtrip only) m&m awards. The details are on the website.

I tried a booking, PIT-LAX roundtrip in March, and the m&m offer is 10,000 miles plus $120 (actually turns out to be $119.33).

So there are three options to pay for the trip:
25,000 miles + $5 tax/fee
10,000 miles + $120 co-pay + $21 taxes/fee (not upgradeable)
$354 + $21 taxes/fee

What about EQMs if you do this in one direction? I assume you don't earn them. I have not read into this new offer, just saw the headline is all. I want my EQMs so I can hopefully maintain 1K for another year.

Well, the one-way awards are just that: awards, so no mileage (RDM or EQM) is earned. I have to assume that the money+miles award also doesn't earn mileage - they are awards.

You can't combine the two. The m&m awards are for roundtrip travel.
