OK to Book via United's U.K. site--& What Happened to 1-Way Bookings?

I was shocked that it cost wayyyy more (I think it was almost double) to book one-way from Nashville to Dublin than to book it as a RT. My preference would have been to do it open-jaw and return from Prague, but the price difference makes it worth flying back to Dublin (from Prague).

The RT flights I'm considering cost 431 British pounds p.p. ($573 USD) if booked on United's U.K. website, or via Skyscanner's U.K. site (which takes you to Un item's U.K. site). The same flights on United's U.S. website cost $799.56

Is there any issue with booking on the U.K. site?

Also ... is there some site where I might be able to book individual legs--without it costing an arm and a leg???

As I proceeded I needed to enter the country of my billing address. When I put in the U.S. it switched me to the U.S. website--and the higher prices.

I could have the person I'll be visiting in the U.K. do the booking for me. But is that legal--and are there any other catches?

Thanks!

I did some dummy bookings, not knowing your dates, I used Sept 26 - Oct 18, and came up with this:

Roundtrip Nashville-Dublin, Dublin-Nashville:
United's UK website, 531.60 GBP (716.23 USD)
United's US website, 720.46 USD

Then I used the multi-city function button, Nashville-Dublin, Prague-Nashville:
United's UK website, 635.60 GBP (856.38 USD)
United's US website, 865.96 USD

One way was 792 USD, Nashville-Dublin--ouch!!

I don't know about having someone visiting the UK do the booking and whether it would be legal or any other problems. However, it seems there is very little difference in booking on United's website, and most of that may be with the currency converter I used.

In my opinion, for approx. 100 USD, it wouldn't be worth your while (both time-wise and financially) to fly back to Dublin from Prague to catch your flight home.
