NYC rush hour: quicker to get to LGA or EWR?

I am flying in and out of NYC for a meeting, and will be trying to get to the airport to leave during rush hour. Am I better off taking a taxi to LGA (usual mode) or to take the trains to EWR?

I would imagine it sort of depends on where (in Manhattan, I assume) you're leaving from.

Where in Manhattan is the meeting? You can take the train from Newark or JFK.

def. depends on where you are in manhattan, if it's uptown, than lga.
if it's midtown, (or on the west side in particular) i'd say newark. (or the lirr train to jamaica/jfk)
if it's downtown on the east side, your closer to jfk by cab.

To be safe I'd do the train to EWR. Going to LGA at rush hour you could get caught in traffic into the the midtown tunnel and then en route to LGA and then again approaching LGA. There is a frequent train to the EWR station and then the Air Train to the airport is efficient.
