Norwegian Air nonstop LAX-CDG
I'm heading to France in September 2019 after a lengthy hiatus from European travel. Norwegian Air is leaps and bounds cheaper than other airlines. I know nothing of this airline, other than what I've researched here. What is their Premium cabin like? Can you share your experience? Do you know it's financial condition presently? Would you book on this airline?

I would, flew them last fall via Stockholm from LAX to BCN. Good service in cattle class. Should think that they have made it into summer so would be good until winter, especially if gas prices stay low. IIRC there were complaints from Europeans about getting the mandatory compensation if flights were overly delayed due to the engine problems with Dreamliner 787s. All of their Dreamliners are back in service now.
Travel insurance that includes some bankruptcy protection or only book refundable hotels. |
I wasn’t overly impressed. The first two times were just okay. Third time—the staff was either having a really hectic day, or they were just totally incompetent. I would bet the latter. The previous two flights I saw signs of it, so I’m not surprised. But. You get what you pay for. The flight was very cheap indeed. And it turned out okay because I generally plan for worst case scenario. Take your own food and water bottle and headphones just in case. Don’t plan any tight connections. I’d prefer to fly Icelandair or another airline over Norwegian, but I’d do it again if the price difference is that substantial. |
We have flown Norwegian twice in Europe, the last time in May from Malta to Copenhagen. We felt the planes and service was as good as Delta, our preferred carrier. And, the price was peanuts. Our daughter was very satisfied with a long haul trip.
And, they have free wifi. It is now “gate to gate.” They recently were named best in their class: https://www.forbes.com/sites/michael.../#1ad377d46994 Yes, they, and other lo cost airlines have had money crunches, but they still have ambitious long range plans. 37 million fliers took a chance on them last year alone. |
We have flown Norwegian twice from SFO to Europe - once to CDG and the other time to Barcelona. We flew premium both times, and were quite satisfied with the flights. It's not as cushy as international business in the legacy airlines - no lie-flat beds - but the seats are comfortable, and the DreamLiner is a nice aircraft. It's much like flying business on US domestic flights. Meals were pre-packaged, some better than others, but nothing terrible. Entertainment system was good. The price is right, that's for sure!
