Norwegian Air

I am considering using Norwegian Air for a flight from Gatwick to Copenhagen in July, 2016 Has anyone flown with this carrier on this route? Also, we are due to arrive by ferry from Caen, France to Portsmouth, England the same morning at 7:30 am. Does anyone have information on National Rail from Portsmouth to Gatwick?

Your help is appreciated.

If your heart is set on trying Norwegian, they have flights from Paris Orly, much less trouble, it seems to me, than ferries and trains to Gatwick. Otherwise, Air France, Easyjet and SAS all have cheap flights from CDG.

Thanks MmePerdu, we just wanted to do something different rather than backtracking through Paris! We would have already been there before going to Bayeux and Normandy.

I can certainly understand your interest in doing something different. But it wouldn't be my choice of something to do on the day I was catching a flight. My preference is a straight shot to the airport or, even better, a short hop, by taxi if necessary, if circumstances dictate. If taking a ferry sounds good, why not the day before? I tend to err on the side of caution in such things.

I haven't flown that route, but I flew Norwegian Air a couple of times this year with no complaints. It's a budget airline, no frills.

I traveled Portsmouth Harbour to Gatwick this year, should be cheaper if you book ahead, direct trains take an hour and a half.

Thanks everyone. This is a big help. THursdaysd, I have booked the ferry and the train info you give is what i have found but felt insecure about. You have given me peace! Thanks.

I have flown the route several times with Norwegian. Is there a specific question?

Pretty detailed info about the trains from Portsmouth > Gatwick were posted on the other thread . . .

I've flown that route many times and Norwegian many times to other destinations. They are a decent carrier. They are a fine budget carrier. Read the rules to any ticket to know what you are paying, but they aren't punitive like Ryanair. In-flight comfort is good and comparable to most of the big names like BA.
