Hi Todd,<BR>I flew NW from Paris to SFO a couple of years ago and it was fine except for one rude FA, scoulded me for not saying thanks for an extra dinner roll, I had my mouth full at the time, I later tracked her down and told her why, and she said sorry. I did fly United from SFO to Japan, then to Shanghi, about 18 hrs. Had a large couple that sat in front of me that had their seats back all the way the whole trip, at meal time I ask them to give me a break so I could eat without the food being in my face and they did so, the FA told me to ask them but said they don't have to do if they don't want. Its a long flight and cramped but travel is stil worth it and when you get back home I am sure you will say so also, have a good trip, Buck

Todd, I've flown NWA Minneapolis-Narita/Narita-Bangkok in economy class r/t. These were 747s. Since we are not tall, it wasn't that much of an ordeal and I agree with Buck -- it's a price well worth paying for the experience. It would make sense to look at the seat maps and try to choose something advantageous when you are within the 90-window before your flight. Be sure to check out www.nwa.com for any promotions such as bonus miles, etc. that may apply to your flight. On a long haul like that, you pick up a lot of miles. With that kind of jumpstart, you may want to plan your travels in 2002 so that you make elite status within the year, if you are not at that level already. Happy Contrails!

todd, i suppose northwest is the logical choice flying out of detroit. but i'm biased towards the asian carriers such as singapore airlines or cathay pacific. when u have a longhaul flight, having courteous staff as well as a personal video screen and games to pass the time is extremely helpful...

Just because you live in Detroit doesn't mean you have to subject yourself to mediocre service or domestic carriers provide. You should break up the journey with an added connection. And then, take the smart risk, fly with Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways or Malaysian.. these carriers are some of the best to Asia!!

Todd,<BR>I agree with the other's that you shouldn't view NW as your only option. (Unless of course your company requires there use.)<BR><BR>As it sounds like Hong Kong is your final destination, you might consider a connection to either Newark Airport or JFK.<BR><BR>Continental has a direct flight to Hong Kong from Newark and United has one from JFK. Cathay Pacific, which flies into JFK, may have one as well.<BR><BR>This will likely take less total flight time as these flights go over the North Pole. <BR><BR>
