A question, if you know, if Northwest folds do you think I could use my FF on KLM as I can now? Thanks in advance.

I guess I will offer a couple of observations. First, nobody really knows the answer to your question about what happens to your FF miles if Northwest folds but that is not a very likely outcome. What would be more likely than that is a merger or acquisition with your miles remaining intact and available for use under whatever partnerships apply at that point. Secondly, I'm skeptical that the FA strike activities will result in the airline folding. There are obviously plenty of other pressure at work with Northwest Airlines and many other carriers. (Personally, I don't like to let my FF mileage balance become much higher than 200K-250K because miles don't earn interest and program changes from time to time can tend to devalue them, too.

Thank you Flyboy, I appreciate your taking the time to post your thoughts. I don't have a lot of FF miles right now..just enough to use to upgrade to BC with the proper coach fare ticket. I see in today's news that Delta is seeking court approval to turn their pilots pension fund over to the government for management.

Besides, this is an effective union strategy to get management to understand issues and the impact the union team has on a company's bottom line. Each time these type of issues make the news, it affects bookings and/or drives questions into thier company.

Any FF flyer would know that and not need to post bad news and suggest a demise of an airline ie Chicken Little.

Any news about a strike? I'm looking for tickets (travel within US in early October) and NWA and AA are the ones I use most.

The flight attendants union at Northwest Airlines is delaying its strike deadline for 10 days in light of the alleged terror plot uncovered Thursday targeting transatlantic flights.

The new deadline is 10:01 p.m. Aug. 25, instead the same time Tuesday.

&quot;We need to focus on safety and security. That really needs to be our number one priority,&quot; said Ricky Thornton, communications chairman for the Association of Flight Attendants.

Northwest flight attendants have threatened short walk-offs targeting certain flights or cities to protest wage and benefit cuts the airline imposed on workers late last month after flight attendants rejected a concessionary contract with the carrier.

Thanks GreenDrake, NWA has a sale going for some routes but I think the deadline to purchase is tonight. I'm not sure I'd risk it.

Agree there would be considerable risk if tonight is the deadline for purchase.

Last week the Federal Bankruptcy court presiding over NW's bankruptcy heard arguments from both sides in regards to NW's attempt to block a strike. The union thought the judge would rule on this issue Monday, but so far a decision has not been announced. It is still not clear what the union would do if the judge rules against them and declares a strike as illegal.
