no more senior discounts...

Not that I'm a senior citizen, but looks like the airlines are discontinuing the practice of senior discounts. Delta announced their decision last week...now Northwest has, too. Look for others to follow. I know many buy tickets for their folks so don't be surprised when you don't get the 10 percent discount.

Good - and if they're old AND fat they should pay two full price fairs.

It always struck me as odd that the age group with the combination of the greatest concentration of wealth and most flexibility in their schedules to use it should be getting a break, while working people with families and paying social security taxes to give to the seniors to gas up their motor homes and load slot machines would be asked to pay full ride. Was I missing something all this time or does the new policy make sense?

YOu would be surprised how strong the AARP lobby is in DC. How about a 10 percent discount for each child you have? Or each red sock?

Maybe the airlines are finally getting it. The SS don't travel that much. Maybe they got tired of cowtowing to them.

It's not a great selection but US Airways and Virgin Atlantic provide discounts for AARP members.

AARP is interesting in that you're eligible at 50.

US Air provides a discount of 10% for the member and a companion. You must reserve through their 800 number and you can't use a travel agent.

Virgin Atlantic has essentially the same rules but their discount is anywhere from 10% to 40%.
"xxx" you'll be lucky to have that status yourself in a much shorter time than you can possibly imagine.

What's this, I am going to pay a full fare the next time I fly to Las Vegas to gamble? How will I ever be able to afford my blue hair dye?
My, my, my, I get no respect.
