Neward to Honolulu direct in July $2400!!!!!

Anyone have any feel for Fare trends to Hawaii. I booked a great fare direct in July for $600. Now though if I want to change, fares have jumped up on Continental (only) to $2400. Its blowing me away. I hope this is not a trend. The direct flight has normally crept up to 1200. maybe 1500. because its the only direct flight but $2400...I am scared very scared

:):)

THAT WOULD BE NEWARK to Honolulu

Depends on the day. I searched for the whole month of July of this flights. Cheapest is $628, with a 7/27 departure. But on many days, yes, it's $2,436, as only "Y" or "H" full-fare.

Incidentally, those are also fares for business class in "D" fare. And Continental does have very nice international BusinessFirst seats on the non-stop 767-400 on EWR-HNL.

So, it's about the date you want to fly. On some dates, cheap fares are still available.

Thanks that reassuring. I am just considering a switch of dates so I can come back later and leave going out earlier. I am not seeing options under $880 with a number of dates checked. I don't want to trim down time though but add a few days outbound and on return.

I am looking directly on Continental website though. Wonder if the length of time I am away is having an impact too.

Thanks for the indulgence rkwan. I will probably just stay at the $600 steal I found in March.

I suspect that the quote of $2400 which you got was for the business class and for unrestricted economy. I don't know why anyone would choose unrestricted economy over business.

The fares which I just looked for for 2 weeks in July were $1500 economy, $2400-2500 business.

Are you saying that you have a roundtrip ticket for $600 for July?

I just got a very good deal from a flight to Hawaii in October on www.airtohawaii.com. I'm on the west coast, but this site gave me a ticket price that was $260 less than what was available directly from Hawaiian Air.

travelocity flexible fares option gives EWR-HNL nonstop roundtrip 7/13- 7/20 for a fare of $575 plus $54 taxes and fees plus $5 travelocity charge= $633.73

Searching again on Expedia for 7/6 to 7/20 I got a price of $642 for 1 stop, $1537 for non-stop. On travelocity, nonstop economy from 7/6 to 7/20 is $1537, for 7/13 to 7/20 is $633.

I find that hard to believe.
