Need flight advice, Delta vs. Air France
 

We are flying into Paris and out of Rome (JFK) in June. If I book through Delta, they have flights for the way over (that are virtually the same times) that are through their partner Air France. The planes that Air France uses (according to Seatguru) are the 777-200, which may have seat back video. The planes that Delta uses are 767-300 (no video).

Is there any particular reason why I would hesitate to book that leg of the trip through the partner, Air France?

I've flown both Air France and Delta to Europe many times. I prefer Delta's business product to that of Air France. In coach, I'm neutral if the aircraft is a 777 (both DL and AF)as they have the seat back entertainment. So do the A330's and A340's that Air France flies. If I'm flying coach, I avoid Delta's 767's in favor of Air France's 777, A330 or A340.

Looking to fly from JFK to RSW end of April. So I do a search, some up with flitghts on Song for 200 each. Book two on miles, then go to pay for the other two, but now they are 350 each!!

Checking jetblue, 220 each direct. No wonder Delta is going out of business!!

No wonder but the people who run these airlines like Delta are total idiots! Just booked and paid for Jetblue and Delta lost more revenue!

wliwl - I really can't think of any reason why you shouldn't fly AF on JFK-CDG. However, I am not sure if Delta will let you fly AF one way and DL/AZ on the way back. You need to call Skymiles and find out.

I've been able to fly DL on one trans atlantic segment and AF on the other. As far as screw ups, I had a problem once with AF returning from CDG and they just moved to the DL flight...no big deal.

Tip - always know all your flight options on the airline which your flying plus their partner airlines. On international trips, I often print off alternate itineraries so I know my options should I encounter problems.
