Need bereavement fare to Taiwan, quickly please
 

I posted this in the Asia forum already, but please help if you can.

My friend and co-worker just discovered her sister was found dead in Taiwan. My friend needs to go to Taiwan in the next day or so. Does anyone know the best airline for bereavement fares? Or are those offered anymore? Flying from Austin, TX.

Any help will be appreciated.

I can't help on the specifics of Taiwan part, but I do know that Delta and Continental still offer bereavement fares for international travel only. No one seems to for domestic as I learned last month.

You can call different airlines, but Continental doesn't bereavement on codeshares. They don't go to TPE, only EVA does.

But I can find fares on CI leaving Sunday for under $1,200 roundtrip. That may be the best you can find.

Thanks for your replies. We discovered that none of the major US carriers are offering bereavement fares on codeshares.

We did find a fare of $1188 on Orbitz leaving Monday so she will take that.

rkkwan, I just looked at China Airline's web page and it's $1138 for Monday travel. Thanks for prompting me to do that, you just saved her $50.
