Name on tickets
I made a reservation for my son thru expedia.com. I gave the name as
Andrew Scott XXXXXXXX, which is on his passport. His drivers lic says Andrew S XXXX If hye uses only his drivers lic to check-in should this cresta a problem? I have tried calling Expeida to change the name but am left on hold forever. Is this normal for them? Finally, the reason for this problem is that my son does not want to carry his pasport with him for certain reasons. But he may have to. Thanks for the help. David J |
Have you tried calling the airline directly to ask them?
Yes I called the airline and changed it the name with thme as they suggested, but they said I also had to call expedia to change the name there. Aftre 1 1/4 hours on hold I had to hang up.

According to both the TSA and my own experience you have nothing to worry about.
http://www.tsa.gov/what_we_do/layers...ight/faqs.shtm If the name printed on my boarding pass is different than what appears on my government ID, will I still be able to fly? Secure Flight is a behind-the-scenes process that TSA and airlines collaborate on to compare the information you provide against government watch lists. The additional data elements that you may be asked to provide, such as date of birth and gender, serve to better differentiate you from individuals on the government watch lists. Due to differences in boarding pass systems, boarding passes may not always display the exact name you provided when booking your travel. The name you provide when booking your travel is used to perform the watch list matching before a boarding pass is ever issued, so small differences between the passenger's ID and the passenger name printed on the boarding pass, such as the use of a middle initial instead of a full middle name or no middle name/initial at all, or hyphens and apostrophes should not cause a problem for the passenger. |
Don't waste your time pursuing this with Expedia - the DL with just middle initial will be fine.
As long as his ID and what the airline has matches I think that is OK. Expedia's pretty much out of the picture by the time you're standing at the airport.
It's my understanding that as long as the first and last name on the tickets are the same as on the passport, all is well. I don't think we have to show our driver's license anymore, just our passport. Maybe I'm wrong.
1965, close. First and last must match. Middle can be close versions of the same thing but not different names (Tom vs T is ok but Tom vs Bob will fail.) Passport or DL are fine for security all the time.
He doesn't need to even show his DL - his passport will be sufficient and since it matched his ticket, not an issue.
1965 - You may need your passport for immigration purposes in a foreign country, but it is not required for TSA identification purposes, though it is acceptable for that, as is a DL and other things as listed at http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtrav...documents.shtm
If the last name on the ticket and pp is XXXXXXXX but his dl has XXXX then that would be a problem. But Andrew S XXXXXXXX would not be a problem.
Hope this helps! |
