medicine as carry-on

This may be a dumb question, but will I be allowed to carry on my meds in my pill box, or do they have to be in original bottles? Flying 12/09 on Spirit Air.

The TSA website says "original labels" are recommended but not required. Original containers are not required. It might be a good idea to have original labels that show the name of the medicine and your name/prescription, but it is definitely not mandatory. Also - it depends where you are traveling. Some countries have very strict drug laws, some could care less.

Sometimes you can get your pharmacy to print out duplicate labels just for this situation.

Janice is quoting the TSA website. In practice the TSA could not care less about pills. They care about security, not what medicines you are carrying or what containers they are in.

Yes, you can put pills in your pillbox.

You state that you are flying Spirit air, so it is obvious that you are not flying to some strict drug law country.

Concern about meds had more to do with the "War on Drugs" and customs/ATF issues. Those worries paled after 9/11. All TSA probably worries about is if you have more than 3 oz. of liquids or a powder that triggers their detectors.
