Mask up, You'all, here comes the Mother of all Viruses

We are scheduled to get on a plane in the next couple of weeks. What do you think our chances of needing a mask? I see they are wearing them in the orient. Also, how do I sip martinis thru the mask. (delicately hole it up and slip in a straw, as they do in Saudi Arabia?)

IMO, your comments are totally inappropriate. From everything I have read, this is a very serious virus which is not responding to antibiotics and has the medical community perplexed. Not only that it seems to be spreading among travelers....

Heck, Aurelia, are you just starting yet another post to stir things up, or are you really wondering about this? Not. Along the same line, I suggest you be careful of anyone you meet in Seattle who has just come back from Vancouver, since there seems to have been one case there already. Don't even have to wait 'til you get on a plane.

Hey, this is a serious question...just trying to put a bit of a light slant to it. I have recently been to Vancouver, and am getting ready to go on a lengthy trip to several places, the Carrib. and to Europe, London, amongh some of those places....I am concerned enough to begin thinking of cancelling. just wondered if anyone else had thoughts?

Most of the masks people are wearing are ineffective from the moisture in ones breath in a short period of time. They are also ineffective if this turns out to be a virus and not a bacteria. Still, it is sort of frightening. Not sure I want to adopt the masked Michael Jackson look quite yet.

Hi Aurelia I'm glad you brought this up as I'm wondering too given I'm heading off to Vietnam/Cambodia this weekend for 3 weeks &amp; will be taking quite a few flights along the way. <BR>PS. Thanks for the laugh - in these troubled times I for one appreciate the light relief!
