As far as FRA goes, you should know it was designed by an American.

Anyone with experience flying Lufthansa direct from FRA to Portland, OR? My husband will be taking that flight later this summer. I know they code-share with United...will it be a United or Lufthansa flight to Portland and back? They're the only ones flying nonstop to PDX.
I have to agree somewhat with the original OP. Lufthansa is pretty shabby these days...my favorite transatlantic airlines are Austrian Airlines--or any airline where I'm not flying economy.
xyz123, if it makes you feel any better, Air Canada once lost our luggage both going to Paris AND coming back...no excuses, we had checked in 3 hours ahead of time, everything was very clearly tagged. Their service was horrible. Took us three days to get our luggage in Paris and in the Vancouver, BC airport when we complained that they had lost our luggage AGAIN, the Air Canada staffer snipped, "you're lucky you're getting it back at all." How's that for customer service?

FRA-PDX is on LH aircraft only. UA doesn't put its own planes on this route.

In my many younger years I flew nearly every major X the pond in coach - LH was the absolute worst, so now that I fly Bus/1st, I avoid LH - just real world experience.

My wife and I have flown Lufthansa from PHX to frankfurt several times, either business or first class, nothing but EXCELLENT, i'm only sorry they discontinued the non stop flight.
