Lufthansa seat selection question
 

I just booked tickets to Munich on the United website. One segment, LAX-MUC, is on Lufthansa. I was able to pick seats on all the other segments, but when it came time to pick seats for the Lufthansa flight, the United website said "Seatmaps are not available for this airline." I just went on Lufthansa's site and couldn't find anywhere to put it my confirmation number to see if I could pick seats there.

Do I have to wait until check-in 24 hours before the flight to pick seats? Is this the way Lufthansa normally works?

No. You can pick seats by calling them at 800-645-3880. If you want to view/print itinerary, go to www.checkmytrip.com and put in your reservation code and last name.

BTW, checkin is at 23 hrs, not 24 hrs before flight.

Do call them and do it right away. The better seats are snapped right up.

When you call Lufthansa, ask for your Lufthansa record locator. It is different than the United record locator that you received when you booked on the United site. You will need the LH code to use checkmytrip (that dfr4848 references) or to check in with LH. You can also get the LH code from United, although some agents are better than others at finding it.

I called Lufthansa's 1800 number and apparently seats had already been assigned to us. Since my boyfriend and I ended up with seats across the aisle from each other, I had the Lufthansa agent change it to 2 seats together.

My trip is actually originating from Sacramento, so I will be checked all the way through to Munich.

Often, seat assignments will be changed, so call again a few days before departure.

If you have registered on the Lufthansa website you may watch your booking and preassigned seats online.
