Lufthansa First Class in 747

I am travelling in First Class in upper deck of LH 747 this fall. I am traveling with my wife, so 2x2 suits us. However, which are the best seats?? I have read the reviews on the various "seat review" websites, however, there is conflicting information....Most say
the exit rows are best b/c they are roomier, however, if there is a drink cart in front of me most of the flight, that seems quite bothersome. Anyone have experience in the upper deck and care to opine?? Others say the first row is best as it is a bit more private albeit near the restroom.

There are no bad seats. I prefer the exit row on the left side (83a is the window seat that I reserve, I think the adjacent seat is 83c), as the trolley is typically on the right side. However, even if you're on the right side, the trolley is hardly in your way or restricting your movements.

The only benefit to the exit row seats is that the person in the window seat does not have to step over the aisle person's legs when the aisle person's seat is fully extended (flat).

In short, there is not any sizeable advantage to any pair of seats upstairs for a couple traveling together.

Thank you so much Rizzuto - We are already reserved on the right side (H and K I think) with the A and C seats already being reserved. So, the FA won't be in our space all the time with the trolley there? Turbulence wont leave a bunch of turned over drinks in our space? Thanks again.

So, now they switched that flight from 747 to A340 with 2 rows of 1x2x1 and reassigned everyone's seats. I think the other 4 passengers in F are 2 groups of 2 based on my recollection of the assigned seating when it was a 747, but they assigned the each pair as window/aisle, so no-one sits directly next to their travelling companion in 2 adacent seats...Doesn't feel very "first class"....Have tried calling to change seats but they won't move anyone around...any thoughts on securing the two center aisle seats?

My counsel is to just wait until you're on the airplane and work it out then.

In my experience, the overwhelming majority of people in F are traveling solo. If that turns out to be the case, just about any solo who is assigned a center seat would be happy to sitch with a window-sitter.

In the extremely unlikely event that the 6 people in F are, in fact, 3 groups of 2, then you'll have to work something out on the plane. It's really not a big deal -- the window and center seats are aligned, and it's just an aisle, not a chasm, that separates the seats, so you can still chat.

If you really feel the need to be closer together, I'm sure that LH would be willing to accommodate you in business, or whatever the accommodations are called in that area that's on the other side of business class.

thanks for the feedback...i take a split aisle over "that area on the other side of business" any day... ;-)

I would reserve the "split aisle" seats and check on availability a few times in the weeks before the flight to see if one of the seats opened up. When online checkin becomes available, check again. Then again when checking bags at the airport. Then again at the first class lounge.

Hi

I'm also flying Lufthansa first class this fall and I have gone for an exit row seat. I'll be flying in the end of September and I will probably post about the experience in my blog http://gardkarlsen.com/blog/ :-)

Matter closed...thanks for the responses...periodically checked the seating arrangements on www.checkmytrip.com and one of the other couples has changed flights or cancelled so I was able to grab two center adjoining seats.
