Lima airport taxis

We will be arriving at LIM about midnight, and after picking up baggage will need to get a taxi to our hotel in Miraflores. Any advice as to the safest and easiest way to do that in the middle of the night?

Add this to your 'packing' thread on the Latin America' forum. ((*))

In Lima I would suggest you have the hotel provide pickup since you are arriving at a late hour. It is a madhouse with the taxis!

Taxis are a variable lot in Lima and it is better to have a native (hotel employee, whatever) secure you a taxi.

Agree, check with your hotel. Most do not charge for the airport pick-up.

I would also prearrange a pickup by the hotel, because the pickup scene outside on international arrivals is quite overwhelming if you've never been before. If they do charge, I might change hotels to one that includes the pickup.

The return, you will probably have to pay, but you can then book a normal certified taxi, probably at a lower rate than the hotel transfer.
