LGA or Newark for ongoing flight arriving into JFK

Arriving JFK from Europe in October. Does the ongoing flight to Chicago makes the most sense out of LGA or Newark? Thanks!

If you can't connect through JFK ( which is your best and easiest option) then connect through La Guardia - I'd about a 30 minute cab ride from JFK - Newark is a good hour to hour and a half from JFK.

I agree--my 1st choice would be JFK to ORD (JetBlue and Delta are two options), a distant second would be switching to LGA, and EWR wouldn't make the cut at all.

Paris, Delta, and JetBlue all fly JFK to ORD. Has the original Europe-JFK ticket been purchased and if not is there any intent on stopping over in New York? More often than not it is going to be cheaper to book this as one trip Europe to Chicago instead of Europe-JFK-ORD...

Sorry I don't know what I was thinking with Paris above. American, Delta, and JetBlue all have direct flights.

Thanks so much- the LaGuardia option looks good. I'm using AA miles from Barcelona, and the other choice is BCN-LGW-LHR-ORD.

yes, it is certainly easier to get from JFK to LGA than from LGW to LHR.
When doing your search did you check for AB flights through Dusseldorf, from where there is a direct to ORD? Or BCN to MIA to ORD? I'm no expert (to say the least) at using AA's award site but thought I'd ask in case you had not considered those options

Give yourself PLENTY of time between flights/airports, especially if you have to retrieve luggage.

I'd be tempted to go to Dallas then ORD or anywhere to avoid changing airports/ collecting and re-checking luggage, etc..

Right now my only options for not overnighting in an airport are BCN-JFK-LGA-ORD or BCN-LGW-LHR-ORD. There are a little less than 5 hours between both options for connecting to the different airports.

magrb Jun 12th, 2013 08:51 AM

I mean those are the only options using AA miles.

At least JFK-LGA, you can do it quickly and fairly cheaply with a cab. Forget LGW-LHR, it'll take longer and cost more.

thursdaysd Jun 12th, 2013 10:01 PM

You can do LGW-LHR easily and cheaply (relatively) by coach - National Express.

lincasanova Jun 12th, 2013 11:39 PM

I'll take a 19km ( 12mile) transfer .. JFK to La Guardia over a 60km ( 37mile) anytime.

magrb Jun 13th, 2013 08:18 AM

Actually I forgot the JFK-LGA option also includes Dusseldorf. So the choices are are

BCN-DUS-JFK-LGA-ORD
or
BCN-LGW-LHR-ORD.
The upside is that the ticket is only 20K miles.
