Layovers any tips

I am flying to Cairo and want to do a layover in Amsterdam. Most flights from SFO arrive in am and flights to Cairo are a around 2100hrs. Figure I might as well stay over night and enjoy the city. Any tips or tricks on doing this the best way? thanks

What kid of tips or tricks are you talking about? Book with KLM as a multi-leg itinerary. SFO-AMS, AMS-CAI (two days later) and then CAI-SFO.

If you need recommendations for coffee shops in AMS, let me know.

Thanks that would be good. I know Holland fairly well as my x is a native and we spent a lot of time there. I was just unsure on the booking aspect as you can't do it from KLM site, but I did call and you can do it though at additional cost you just can not book from their site or in fact other sites which then treat it as different ticket purchases for some reason. If I find any easy way that is within price range of standard RT I will post.
