Layover too short at MSP?
Hi,
New to the airport forum. Northwest/KLM has flights that work well for me budget-wise for next June, SFO to JRO. However, the first leg of this many-legged journey involves a change of planes in Minneapolis: arriving 2:13 and departing to AMS at 3:15. Now, this isn't something I'd worry about on the way home (especially if it meant getting stuck in Tanzania or Kenya!), but on my way TO my holiday...I don't know. Is this cutting it too close in MSP? |
KL's AMS-JRO flight departs 10:30am, at least for now.
NW has a 6pm flight MSP-AMS that also has enough time in AMS for connecting to JRO. If you know ahead that your ~8:35am SFO-MSP flight will be departing late, ask to see if you can switch to the 8:15am SFO-DTW, which also has connection to AMS. But back to your original question, 62 minutes is enough for connection at MSP. Just want to tell you that you have other options to catch the AMS-JRO flight. |
Thank you! It's missing the AMS-JRO flight that most worries me, as arriving in JRO is when the holiday really begins. And I certainly don't want to mess that up.

Well, flying from the west coast to Africa, you don't have that many choices. This is a very reasonable itinerary with some backup as I mentioned in my last reply. I don't think you can do much better than this other than staying overnight somewhere or take a red-eye out of SFO the night before.

Thank you again, rkkwan. It's a brutal trip, with limited options, as you noted. I have in the past flown to NBO via LHR: much easier. Oh well. Getting there's the important thing.
