Layover quetsion Dubai and Frankfurt

I am traveling and do not have any experience with either of these locations. I will have 16 hours in one of these cities. Has anyone an opinion on which would be a better stopover?

Thanks

David J

I've never been to Dubai, but I have done a long layover in Frankfurt.

It is very easy to get from the airport into downtown Frankfurt, or to the nearby town of Mainz. Many on the Europe board recommend Mainz as a preferred 1day trip.

There is plenty to do in either of those towns to while away an enjoyable layover without hassle.

When is the layover? Dubai is brutally hot in the summer so you may not want to do much site seeing.

I would do Dubai personally unless in high summer. There is alot to see and some great places for food. The malls are air conditioned but in the summer, you might not want to step outside.

Over what time is the layover in Frankfurt and on which day of the week?

Are we talking about just one layover in Jan. with either Frankfurt or Dubai as the alternatives?
If so, I'd choose Dubai. If only to avoid potential delays or cancellations in FRA due to snow and ice.

If it's Jan. in Dubai that's where I would go too. Is it possible to stay over a few days? Anyways better there than Jan. in Frankfurt.
