Layover in Newark
I am trying to book a flight leaving from Minneapolis to Dublin with a layover in Newark. The layover that is being presented is 55 minutes and I'd have to go from Terminal A to Terminal C. Is that long enough?

Very iffy, as you'll have to take a shuttle bus from A to C, and that bus has erratic schedule, or I should say it has no schedule and runs when it runs.

There's an "AirTrain" monorail that links all the three main terminals but it is outside the secure area. Trains run every 3 minutes between 5AM and 12 Midnight (and every 15 minutes in off hours). It takes about 6 minutes to travel from Terminal A to terminal C.

You'll have to clear TSA Security when you get to Terminal C. So, assuming your inbound flight is "on time" you should allowing 15 minutes to deplane and walk to the AirTrain, another 5 to 10 minutes waiting and travel time to reach Terminal C and say 20 minutes to clear TSA. That gives you a small cushion of 15 minutes to board your plane to Dublin.

It's cutting it close but doable if the stars align. Personally, I'd book a different inbound flight that gives you a bit more time - say a minimum of 90 minutes.

If you go ahead with the tighter connection make sure you know what your options are if your inbound flight is delayed and you miss your dublin flight.

I would not chance this even if it's a legal connection. EWR can get backed up in the early evening on both arrivals and departures, so there's a relatively good chance your Minneapolis flight could be delayed depending on when you're traveling. Changing terminals and going through security again can all be choke points. I'd be more comfortable with more time, as RoamsAround suggests.

Definitely won't chance using AirTrain and reclear. Not just the hassle of screening, but the lines can be long in the evening with still quite a few flights departing for Europe at that hour.
