Layover in Frankfurt - Lufthansa

Boy did I screw up! I have a 12 hour layover, overnight in the glorious Frankfurt Airport. Arr. 8:30 pm and back out 9:30 am!!

HELP!! Suggestions? Where to go? What to do? Any Airline Lounges where I can sack out? Any nearby hotels? Sleep on the floor?

Thanks for any ideas!

The Star Alliance Gold lounge at FRA has showers that you can use if you have a * Gold or United Red Carpet Club card or the LH club. You won't be able to stay there all night.

There is a hotel attached to the airport - think it is a Sheraton but it is a few years since I had a stopover. The train into town is quick and efficient so might be cheaper to go into town - but more of a hassle

I had a five hour layover on LH earlier this year....the Lufthansa lounge I visited at FRA was crowded - very crowded. And, it's not that much better than the typical United club and I don't think it was open 24 hrs. Find a hotel and crash...

I also suggest going into town, but instead of Frankfurt, I would pick Mainz, basically a suburb of Frankfurt and only 15 minutes away by train directly from/to the airport.
Hotels would probably be cheaper, it's a great small town. Catch a late dinner, maybe walk around the old town and get few hours of sleep. Less hassle when compared to Frankfurt.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Frankfurt a few years ago. They had a really nice spa. Jacuzzi, hot and cold steam. You won't need a bathing suit--those Germans.
