We've taken KLM SFO-AMS and also return, and in addition to lie-flat seats you get those lovely little Delft houses filled with gin. (Though no gin on some Arab Middle East flights I am told.).

I'm a bit surprised that is was AF, as our flights on them have been good. We get the single window seats.

Yuck, I think we are flying them one way to France this November. I guess Covid extra cleaning isn't on their list. How was the trip besides the dirty seat?

Average.
Crew served the meal, a rubber chicken in my case, cleaned up. then curtained off for most of the trip.
At the end thanked us for our business with the sincerity of a used car dealer..
In additions to not giving a damn about the condition of the cabin, the crew also doesn't care if you wear your mask.

annw -- Aside from the really nice staff on KLM, I love the delft houses! I have quite the collection. Except for the time I went to Greece, and left two of them at a hotel in Athens, which we were coming back to before heading back to the States. Needless to say, when I returned, I forgot to collect them.

Have flown VS in upper class many many times, but not for 18 months how, since COVID. I'm perfectly happy with it, flown several US-UK routes inc LAX/SFO/MIA/JFK/EWR/ORD & other routes eg NBO/LHR, JNB & CPT/LHR, DXB/LHR (not all those operate nowadays). Not many airlines without financial issues these days.Their Clubhouse @ LHR is great. Alot can change in an airline in 8/9 years, their fleet for example, refitting of aircraft etc.

That's a shame but I really meant it as in I'd rather fly anyone than American Airlines!

Oh no!!! I wish we were coming back on KLM next trip instead of going -- that way we'd be sure to have our little houses with us!

I loved my upper class flight on Virgin Atlantic from SFO-LHR -- comfy bed, great service, and I love the drawstring pajama bottoms -- my favorite jammies overall.

I may try Virgin Atlantic again. Oh, I long for the old days of Freddie Laker and Caledonian Airways . . . great seats even in economy.

We loved Freddie Laker. They were also generous with the compensation (in cash) when the flights were cancelled. There were not many planes that could handle our route (one or two?) so I had a few of those. Good for a dinner wherever I wanted with whoever I was staying with or taking me to the airport.
