Keflavik Iceland changing planes
 

Denver has a non stop flight to Keflavik and from there flies to many European airports. Prices are better than Lufthansa and United

Has anyone changed at Keflavik to another Iclandic flight? Is there only one terminal? Is 1 hour 15 minutes enough time to transit? Final destination is Munich.

Also how is the flight experience in economy??

Icelandair would not sell you a flight vis Keflavik unless you could make the connection (indeed most airlines wouldn't regardless of route).

Much of Keflavik's trade is connecting passengers and they are very good at getting you between flights, so don't worry.

BUT why aren't you taking the opportunity for a longer connection and a chance to see something of Iceland - it really is worth it.

Done it twice in each direction. Keflavik airport is relatively small and has just one terminal. The whole airport is totally geared up to people transiting from one flight to another, so almost without exception this is a smooth process. There are however queues in the early morning due to several incoming flights from north America arriving at the same time. I've yet to understand why some passengers have to go through security and other not - maybe this depends on where the incoming and outgoing gates are located in relation to each other.

Many of Icelandair's planes, even on longhaul routes, are narrow-bodied jets with a 3-3 seating configuration. Some find this uncomfortable on longer flights but it wasn't a major issue for us. Expect to pay for all meals and alcoholic drinks on board and the selection is basic (better to bring your own food or buy in the departing airport).

I did it recently, and took the longer connection on the way over (stayed 2 days in Reykjavik), but had a mere 90 minutes on the way home. It was fine, and very easy to make the connection. Its actually good to not go to the gate until the monitors say "Go to gate" because the gates are very crowded with very little seating space nearby. So stay in the shopping area or food court and keep an eye on the monitors. Or wait till shortly before boarding time to actually go to your gate.

We flew economy comfort which was great. I would definitely fly Icelandair again.

I will be flying out of Frankfurt with a 1 1/2 hr layover at KEF and was also wondering if that's enough time. Now that I read what others have written, I guess it is. Do you know does the luggage get automatically transferred to the next Icelandic flight which my final destination is Orlando. Thanks for any reply.

Your bags will be transferred automatically. You won't see them until you get to your first port of entry in the U.S.

Just adding that I flew Dulles to Paris in August with a stopover in Reykjavik. Shuttle was late getting me to the airport for the flight to Paris and had only 30 minutes to get thru check-in to the gate. Icelandair personnel assured me the flight would wait for me. No problems getting to the gate - made it in time!
