JFK transfer from terminal 8 to 4
Hi, I'll be taking a AA flight from Washington DC to JFK which arriving at 07:45 at terminal 8, and then a connecting international Delta flight from terminal 4 departing at 09:00.
Is layover time of 1:15 enough for the transfer? I will be in economy class but will have no check-in baggage. Thanks! |
Should be no problem, assuming your AA flight arrives on time and you don't dilly dally as you make your way to Terminal 4. Once you deplane simply follow the signs and take the AirTrain between terminals - less than an 7 minute ride between terminals. Biggest delay is going to be clearing the TSA checkpoint.

I made the exact same transfer with no problem, just be sure to get on the train that goes around the airport and not the train going into the city. Pay attention to the signs or just ask anyone.

Be sure you check-in with Delta online before you leave home. Then all you need to do is be at the gate by the time they close the door.
I'n not sure how they will handle the passport check though. Delta will certainly need to check it... |
J62's advice should be expanded: Check with Delta to see when the door on your second flight will be closing. It will likely be well before the stated departure time. You might even check with a Delta rep as you deplane in hopes of expediting the transfer.

There won't be any Delta reps in T8, and the airline can't do anything to expedite the transfer. You have to find your own way from T8 to T4 using the Airtrain as described above. From arrival gate in T8 to security line in T4 I estimate about 30min. Could be faster, doubt it'll be slower.
