JFK to Sydney, how long is the flight?

DD and SIl are joining the Sea Princess cruise ship in Sydney next week. They are flying out Monday 26th Nov 4.30pm Qantas from JFK New York direct to Sydney. Well we think it is direct but not quite sure. Is there a stop at LAX? Where do they go through security?

Thanks

QF108 departs JFK at 630p, not 430. It is scheduled for 6 hours to LAX. Then, a 2:10 stop, followed by a scheduled time of 14:50 to SYD. Total scheduled time is 23 hours.

You go through security at JFK only, on the way out. Coming back, you'll claim bags and go through US Immigration and Customs, and then security at LAX.

You will deplane (take carry-ons) at LAX into a holding area so the plane can be inspected by TSA; then you re-board and off you go.

It's not called "QF One-Oh-Late" for nothing.

Thanks for your answers rkkwan and Gardyloo. This flight which is booked by the cruise company is a very roundabout way to get to Auckland which is their final destination to catch the ship. We are flying out from JFK the same day on Air NZ (United) and I think ours will be much more comfortable and shorter!!!! Hope so anyway.
