If you bought this as one ticket then your luggage s/b checked through so you do not have to get your bag and re-check it. If you didn't buy it as one ticket there is still a very good chance the airlines have a bag checking agreement so it will be checked all the way through.

Barring any serious delays you will have plenty of time to make your connection.

When you check in for your flight at JFK, ask them to check your bag through to DUB (whether or not it is on one ticket). Unless you are flying a budget airline to DUB,they should check your luggage all the way through.

Noelle_Wilson - If you're flying BA then they might just 'walk' you through the process.

I had a late flight coming in from somewhere on the Continent. BA met all transfers at the gate, put us on a small bus and got us to the next flight.

While we were going through security, BA went ahead and made sure the plane was being held for us.

Great service. 20-25 years ago, that was expected, but not any more, so BA really went out of the way for about 8 of us.

I'm new to this blog but I do quite a bit of travelling and if you ask them to "check your bags all the way through" they're language you should be fine, even if it is on 2 separate tickets. Just give them both tickets when you check-in and you should be fine!
