JFK connection time

Hello, all, I'm about to buy tickets from San Francisco (SFO) to Zurich with a JFK connection. Is 2 hrs 20 min enough?

Flying economy - will take a while to get off the plane. The SFO-JFK leg is a AA codeshare.

Are you flying Swiss or AA? Of course, it'd be okay with AA. But even if it's Swiss, it shouldn't be a problem. The SkyTrain can get you over from 8/9 to 4 in a few minutes. Longest time and the wildcard will be security at Terminal 4, which I don't have any idea.

Still, 2:20 is a lot of time.

I'll make reservations through Swiss website, they sell the SFO-JFK leg as codeshare on AA - not sure what that means for me!

If I go to the AA website, the price goes up A LOT!

But I can use my AA card to add Swiss miles to it.

This means you check-in with AA in SFO. Luggage will be tagged to ZRH, and you should be issued boarding passes for both SFO-JFK and JFK-ZRH. You'll then fly a AA plane with AA service SFO-JFK. Only thing "Swiss" about this flight is that they may display the LX number at the gate along with the AA number, and the FA onboard may mention the LX flight number. But that's all.

At JFK, you get off, then go take the AirTrain to Terminal 4. Reclear security and go to your gate for your LX flight.

Again, both AA and LX fly JFK-ZRH. And they codeshare on each other (at least for now). So, check to see if your LX flight is even operated by LX at all.

Thank you, RK, for your support!

I heard the relationship with Swiss is ending on AA, but not until 2006.

Right?

I don't know. I apologize, RKkwan, you've done so much to help me, but I ended up buying Continental, their price went down, and it's only 1 layover in Newark.

I am a little sad as with my husband we've pulled already all Swiss coins - I'd have enough for an ice-cream if I'd have time for it during only 1 hour in Zurich :)

Oh, well, I can always go back, right? RIGHT! ;)

CO's 767 to Europe is not bad. However, SFO-EWR is going to be on a narrowbody plane only.

I flew CO SFO-EWR before, it was fine (on the way to Zurich).

And they, too, have the 50 lbs rule now.
