Japan Airlines-to Brazil
 

I always fly either American or Varig to Brazil has anyone flyed Japan? Just wanted some feed back. Food, service, do they have there individual tv's?<BR><BR>Thanks in advance<BR>Chant

Just curious, but are you flying from US? If so, how do you plan on flying JapanAir to Brazil? Or are flying somewhere else first?

I could be wrong, because I know there are few exceptions to this rule, but in most cases a forign airline can't pick-up US based passengers to take them to a third country. This is to protect domestic airlines from having them compete on routes with third party airlines. So while JAL may get you to San Paulo, they will have to fly you to Japan first. I tried to price this trip (either LAX or JFK)on JAL.com and it would not price the itinerary. When I looked at JAL.com route map, it does show a flight to San Paulo, from Tokyo with stops in either LAX or JFK, but I believe it's only for dropping-off passengers and/or re-fueling. Again, I'm not 100% sure, because I know there are few exceptions, but generally that's how it works. Anybody else with more knowledge on this?

JAL operates with a stop en-route at LAX, it's a thru-plane service.

Yes i will be leaving JFK and going to GRU direct flight. You do not have to fly to japan and then go to Sao Paulo. JapanAirline is a frequent airline used for traveling from New York to Brazil. I just never have chose to use them untill now. Has anyone ever flew Japan to Sao Paulo. Look forward to any responses. Thanks <BR>Chantel

I stand corrected. This must be one of the few exceptions. I've never flown fron JFK-GRU on Japan Air, but since this is a continuation of their Tokyo-New York flight, which I did fly I could tell you that you will enjoy the flight. It's a 747-400. Coach has individual screens in the seats, and it's a new system where you actually have a choice of movies, games, tv programs at your own pace. On the transpacific flight they serve western and Japanese food, which in my opinion is above average. The seats are little tight but not too bad. In business they actually have installed the new totally flat seats. VERY COMFORTABLE!!! I did not have a chance to experience first class, but it's the &quot;suite seats&quot;, just like the AA &quot;suites&quot;, which I did try, and IMHO, is the way to fly, if one gets lucky to sit up front.<BR>If you are an AA frequent flyer, the only drawback of flying JAL is the fact that you only get 70% of actual miles flown in all except the Y(full fare) economy class. Full fare economy you will get 100%, busines you get 100+25% and in first you get 100+50%.<BR>Have a great flight.
