Is this normal airline behaviour-or are my expectations unrealistic??
I booked: in January 2011 with KLM/Air France on line
Montreal - (Amsterdam)- Warsaw Prague-(Paris)- Montreal for flights in May 2011 -No problem-confirmed Today I received e-mail notification that I could check in on-line Problem : My return flight originated in Paris instead of Prague (Prague- Paris connecting flight had disappeared) I called KLM and eventually was told that the Prague connection to Paris had been cancelled!!!?? I am astounded that I was not informed-we leave in 12 days-fortunately I was able to re-route us through Amsterdam at about the same time of day What is going on? I usually check 24 hours before i leave and again a few hours before for flight changes but I find this unacceptable Had we discovered this the day before the solution might not have been as easy we travel a fair amount and this is a new experience I guess from now on I will have to check fights in advance Sandy |
Flight cancellations/schedule changes = normal. Changes happen.
Not being notified = poor customer service. I can't say whether it's normal or not, but it's not good regardless. |
Are you sure they didn't notify you? Probably not -- but AA did once sent me an e-mail notice of a schedule change and it landed in my spam folder.

I also have had flight change notifications end up in spam - and sometimes they come from some strange sounding "sender" that has no mention of the actual airline in it or in the subject. Also, we have missed change phone calls since our phone machine is set to answer after 6 rings instead of the usual 4 - so we get only part of the message since robo-voice starts talking after 4 rings.
If you really gave them an email address and they did not notify you - agree rotten service. But flight changes and cancellations seem to be occuring at a maddening rate. |
I'm sorry to tell you this but it doesn't surprise me at all as it has happened to me a few times. Just recently I checked a booking of mine where on the return they flew me into Chicago and that's where my trip ended. Problem is I live in Texas. I called (and waited on hold for an hour) and they said, "Oh, that flight from Chicago from Austin isn't running anymore." They went on to re-do my booking with a schedule I didn't like, but had to take.
Thankfully I am an anal person who checks my bookings about every second day, months before a trip. I hate to think how this would have turned out if I hadn't. I might have got stuck in Chicago. |
Frontier cancelled a service from Minneapolis to Calgary and sent the cancellation by postcard; fine, but we do live in AUSTRALIA and it only just made it. I guess they think Australia is in some obscure part of the USA?

Actually-I hate to sound like an idiot, but HOW do you actually check if it is a good flight-if the flight is booked up , will it still show up?
