Is This Agency Legit?
I recently booked and paid for(by credit card) two round trip tickets using Airtickets.com, a London-based, on-line travel agency and received the E-tickets.
My credit card was charged on July 29th for $1,657.08 from the transaction on July 26th, according to my latest credit card statement, dated today. What are the options for the agency and for me if this transaction is voided by them? If they return my money credited to the credit card, I may not get the same prices, seats or flight times. Am I entitled to additional compensation and if so, how do I get it? If for some reason, they void the transaction, refund your money, and cancel the ticket, you would not entitled to any kind of additional compensation.

I would like to understand why the OP thinks the issuing agency may void (or reverse or cancel) the transaction.
|
I was wondering that too.

If it is a scam then the agency won't void it (whatever you mean by "void").
If you think the credit card company is going to void the transaction, then good if they do that. One time Amex called about a ticket purchased on Caribbean Airlines to tell me that the transaction was voided or cancelled or whatever because they suspected fraud (it was). If the agency is not legit and the cc company voids the transaction then who do you think you would get compensation from? Not the scam artist - the offer was not legit, not for real, you never had a deal. It is not a bait-and-switch because there was no bait. You might contact an association of travel agents to see if that company is a member. |
Probably should have asked before you booked, not after.
I can't find out anything negative about them obviously on the web, which is good. Why don't you call the airline and ask theem their experience with them (although you might not necessarily get anyone who knows, but you could try). I don't understand what the point would be of a scam where they refunded your money and cancelled a booking? What would they get out of that. |
I have booked the tickets through airtickets.com, then I had to cancel my reservation. I called on +44 (203) 432 8090 and made the cancellation. Lady form department of cancellations promised contact with me and confirm the operation asap. She didn't do it and I didn't get my money back.
Later I found out that a lot of users of this site fell into a similar situation. Now I prefer to buy tickets in real agencies, even if it is on the 10-20 euro expensive. My advice - never use airtickets.com. |
Igor, why don't you buy airline tickets from the actual airlines' website? Then you won't have to pay any fees.
Most airline tickets can't just be cancelled and you get the money back, anyway, so not sure what your complaint is. Legally, in the US, you are entitled to cancel within a day, I think. |
