If there's space, sure they might. Providing you're willing to pay.

Why didn't you just pay the business/first class fare on Travelocity itself? If you're hoping to get some kind freebie or discount, well, think again. Price your itinerary on Travelocity again in the relevant cabin and the be prepared to pony up the extra.

What do you mean by 'let you upgrade at the gate'? How?

the official way? pay for it if there is a seat available. they don't just give you an upgrade no matter how nice you ask.

Travel agencies that handle a large volume of CI tickets may have mileage upgrades to sell. However, I don't know if they'd be willing to do this if they didn't issue the original ticket. Try checking with agencies in Chinatown or a Chinese community wherever you live.

Or if you can find someone with CI miles, they may be willing to swap you enough miles for an upgrade. I have very little need to fly CI anymore but when I used to fly them years ago, I don't recall ever having an opportunity to pay for an upgrade at check-in, but things may have changed.

Sorry, CI = China Airlines in case it's not obvious.
