Is there anything we can do?
Made reservations in May, 08 thru Expedia to fly from Medford, OR to Orlando, FL in Dec, 08 on US Air.
Now we get an email that US Air no longer flies out of Medford so we have to find our own way to SFO to catch flight there. US Air says they will not put us on another airline to get from Medford to SFO at their expense. Question: Shouldn't US Air be responsible for getting us to SFO from Medford? After all, we booked in good faith. If we take a refund (which is what they would prefer we do)it will cost us a lot more to re-book with another airline. This doesn't seem right or fair. Any advice? Thanks in advance! |
No airline guarantees future schedules or even routes. Since 12/8 is 3mo away in the future, you are not out anything yet. You have several options.
1. full refund, which they have offered to you 2. rebook an alternate flight on the same airline. If you want to do that, be sure to do your homework so you find out which flights work best for you then tell them what you want to fly. No, they have no obligation to get you from Medford to SFO at their expense. |

The newspaper this morning said airlines were going to be reducing the fuel charges for fall flights to Europe, so try looking at new fares again over the next few days.

J62,
pretty much nailed it, airlines do not guarantee schedules, period. Full refund and start from scratch or accept the new flights That's about the only choices you have. |
Thing is, USAir will probably still sell you a ticket at their website for travel from Medford to Orlando on the dates that you planned to travel. It is just that the flight from Medford would be on their partner United (and surely an option would be to go to SFO to connect to the UA nonstop to MCO).

I'd grab the full refund & start over again from scratch. "Booked in good faith" means nothing, unfortunately.
