Is the "better" food on BA worth it.
 

I will be going from LAX to LHR on BA on A380 soon. I will be in economy and wondered what the regular food options are now, and if the so called "better" food on offer is worth paying for. The last few times I flew with BA, not from LAX, but from DEN, the choices were either chicken curry or cheese lasagne, neither was very appetizing or tasty. I might have to resort to bringing on my own food.

I have flown on BA many times and have always found the food to be perfectly acceptable and certainly would not dream of paying extra for any airline food.

It does of course depend upon from which airport you are flying. Certainly the food out of Heathrow is usually pretty good but my in laws when flying from Miami to LHR said the food was awful and that they ran out of choices halfway through service.

Maybe I am just weird but I quite like airline food :-)

I like airline food most of the time too. Having it served in those little containers with everything so neat and compact appeals to me. Of course, I’m the sort of person who would eat pretty much anything if someone else prepares it and puts it down in front of me.

I have never not brought some food onboard,,,often just something from the airport.

I would not pay more for a special order meal, its still plane food, eat the regular meal and bring a nice snack onboard.

BA food is pretty much uniformly terrible. I would either eat at the airport or bring something on-board before buying on-board. Ink.sack will be way better than anything you can by from BA.

May i suggest that if bringing food onto the aircraft for personal dining, that you not include 'stinky dofu' or durian fruit snacks.

Rather choose only at conventional fast-food shops at the airport. Just tell the McDonald's girl for 'take-away'. Everyone on the plane will greet the hamburger aroma with joy.

I recently flew the A380 from JNB to LHR. The food wasn't great but it wasn't terrible either. I had considered the gourmet meal option but I couldn't justify spending ~$30 for an airplane meal. For a lot less money you could buy a good sandwich or some other meal at the airport and bring it on board. With a $30 budget you could also get a few good snacks for the flight.
