is RMB necessary for layover in Chinese airport
 

We will have a four hour layover in Guangzhou this January. If we wish to/need to buy food etc can we use American credit cards or should I have some Chinese currency on hand?

I read it’s the 3rd largest airport in China and base for China Southern airlines so I would think they take all major cc,s and have currency exchange kiosks. You should be fine
