International trip-customs

Hi, We are flying from Pittsburgh to Detroit; Detroit to Amsterdam; Amsterdam to Kilimanjaro. Does anyone know if we have to clear customers in Amsterdam? We have a 2 hour layover in Amsterdam and I'm worried if it is enough time. Has anyone traveled through Amsterdam on to another country? I read that it is the 4th busiest airport in Europe. Thanks!

If your luggage is checked through to your final destination you shouldn't have to clear customs in Amsterdam.

Underhill, thanks for your reply.

AMS is quite efficient.
If your luggage is checked through as Underhill wrote, you will only have to go through one security check in AMS.

Not only will you not clear customs, you also won't clear immigration at AMS. Immigration is where they check/stamp your passport, customs is where they inspect what you're bringing into a country.
